Plastic Mold Company
Quashnick Tool Corporation is Plastic Mold Company will provide engineering services, mold manufacturing, plastic part production and customer support that meets customer requirements at all times”.
Quality means Conformance to Specifications
Our Chief Operations Officer is a Six Sigma Black-Belt and an ISO Auditor
Since its inception, Quashnick Tool Corporation has focused on quality as a strategic advantage. A quality plastic part begins with a well defined concept followed by detailed design and analysis.
To ensure successful function and the lowest production costs, we recommend that our customers engage with our engineering team as early in their project lifecycle as possible. Early involvement adds value and cuts time–to-market by eliminating costly design, manufacturing and test cycles. The extra development help QTC provides often improves part function, simply due to another strong design team’s involvement and translated experience, at an early stage.
We understand that in order to reliably produce high volumes of plastic parts, one must begin by building an extremely high quality mold. Terry Quashnick earned his State Certified Journeyman Machinist and Tool Maker certificates almost 40 years ago and has mentored another 13 tool makers through the State Certified apprentice program over the years. Today we still demand the highest level of skill and craftsmanship from our toolmakers, and every new mold is thoroughly inspected many times during it’s manufacture, then qualified to customer specification prior to starting production.
As a mold moves from tooling manufacture into production our quality system assures the following:
resin materials compliance and tracking
process condition traceability
mold history and maintenance records
cleanroom environmental and operating procedure controls
full training for operators and inspection personnel
a full metrology tool set including optical comparator, vision inspection equipment and calibrated micrometers, calipers and gages
collection, analysis and production management team availability of all quality data
the application of quality data, SPC trends, and six sigma DMAIC (define, measure, analyze, improve, control) to continuous improvement and full circle quality management
When you work with Quashnick Tool Corporation, you can have confidence that the quality mentality started by founder and current CEO Terry Quashnick is now strengthened by President & COO Ed Baker, who is a certified Six Sigma Black belt and ISO auditor, and has spent a career driving quality into technology development, production and business process at top tier Silicon Valley Companies.
We believe quality drives business success and as such our quality policy is very simple. We operate under the principal of always doing what is right for our customer’s success. Knowing this, it’s no surprise that our most successful customers have chosen QTC as a trusted extension of their in-house engineering and production teams.
Terry started Quashnick Tool, after serving in Vietnam as a Sergeant in the 503rd infantry deployed with the 173rd Airborne Brigade, where he earned a Bronze Star. He fine tuned his skills, becoming a State Certified Journeyman Machinist and a Journeyman tool maker.
Education and training in support of the plastics industry remain extremely important to Terry. QTC has trained 16 mold makers through the formal four year State Certified apprenticeship program, and he remains active with the local Junior College, encouraging training in the trade as America is now growing dangerously short of the skilled workers needed to compete in global manufacturing.
Terry was inducted into the Society of Plastics Engineers Northern California Golden Gate Section Hall of Fame in October 1998. He joins only twelve other professionals inducted into the Hall of Fame since 1986. In 1999 Quashnick Tool Corporation Received the Industry of the Year award by the Lodi, California Chamber of Commerce and in 2007, Terry received the “Industrialist of the Year” award from the Lodi Chamber of Commerce.
Ed joined QTC in August 2008 to manage the molding company and work with the next generation of technology entrenched customers. He has over 20 years of executive experience in Silicon Valley companies, such as Applied Materials, Novellus Systems, Sun Microsystems, and Saes, and fully understands the demanding product life cycle in today’s high technology industry.
Over half of Ed’s career was spent in ultra clean semiconductor processing, where he managed RD&E in semiconductor processing equipment development, prior to moving into general management of companies in the clean semiconductor processing field and the computer industry. Ed achieved worldwide recognition for his expertise in the field of micro contamination, was a frequent speaker at technical symposiums around the globe, and helped move the industry to PPT (Parts Per Trillion) levels of purity.
In his general management roles, he has been largely focused on business turnaround and new product development. His approach has always stood the test of time: baseline your business performance honestly, gain an understanding of the customer’s real need, then implement improved business processes and new product development to meet the need in a timely fashion.
Ed has implemented ISO certified business systems as well as six sigma quality management at the corporate level and uses these same tools frequently in running the business.
Ed’s passion lies in truly exceeding customer expectations, designing and producing quality products, and driving efficiency and execution across the molding company.
